At the gates of Paris, visit the Chteau de Vincennes, a fine example of medieval architecture.
The building affirms the power of the monarchy: it guarded the capital, whilst at the same time protecting the kings against uprisings. It was at the heart of the French monarchy until 1682, when Louis XIV chose to settle in Versailles.
The keep was used as a prison from the 16th up to the 19th century: Fouquet, the Marquis de Sade, and Mirabeau were held here. Under Napoleon I it was transformed into a barracks and arsenal, and the fortress protected Paris during invasions in the 19th century.

What if you miss the appointed time or departure date?
Once the booking is confirmed, an absence or failure to show up on the scheduled date or time is a no-show. No refunds or reschedules will be issued for no-shows and late arrivals

- Free admission on the 1st Sunday of the month (from January 1 to March 31 and from November 1 to December 31) and during the "European Heritage Days" on the 3rd weekend of September
- Free admission: children under 18, European citizens 18-25 years old, people with disabilities and journalists
- Visitors eligible for free/reduced admission must collect their ticket at the ticket office
- The monument is closed on January 1, May 1 and December 25
- Audio guide is available at the entrance for 3€
