Day 2: Anchorage – Talkeetna – Anchorage – Original Residence

Plan to depart from the designated hotel around 9:00 a.m. and travel by vehicle to Talkeetna, a gold-mining town at the foot of Denali. Upon arrival, proceed to the Talkeetna Ranger Station of Denali National Park to collect the daily visitor stamp (approximately 15 minutes), then head to the viewing platform to overlook Denali, the highest peak in North America (approximately 15 minutes). You may also freely explore the town’s distinctive restaurants, art galleries, cafs and vintage-style boutique shops.

Talkeetna offers a wealth of exciting summer activities. If you wish to get a close-up view of Denali, you can choose either the Denali Scenic Flight* (self-paid, advance reservation available) or the Talkeetna Jet Boat Cruise* (self-paid, advance reservation available). Due to the schedule, only one option can be selected. We expect to return to Anchorage between 19:00 and 19:30.

On the return trip, you may upgrade to the Alaska Glass Dome Scenic Train* at your own expense, arriving at Anchorage Railway Station at approximately 20:00, where a tour guide will pick you up and transfer you back to the hotel.

Today marks the end of your entire itinerary, bidding farewell to the beautiful Alaska.

Talkeetna

Once a bustling gold-mining hub, Talkeetna still retains the rustic charm of early Alaska to this day. Log cabins, roadside inns, and board-built storefronts line both sides of the town’s only main road. Serving not only as the gateway to Denali and a base camp for mountaineers, Talkeetna is also a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.

Optional Self-Paid Activities

Denali Scenic Flight* (Round trip: about 1 hour or 1.5 hours, English commentary provided)

Board a small sightseeing aircraft to overlook the snow-capped Denali and the magnificent Alaska Range. Weather permitting, you will have the chance to land on ancient glaciers in the Alaska Range, experience the stunning scenery surrounded by snow mountains up close and take memorable photos. Please confirm whether the glacier landing option is included when making a reservation.

Talkeetna Jet Boat Cruise* (Round trip: about 2 hours, English commentary provided)

The captain will take you on a water sightseeing tour to enjoy the pristine wilderness scenery of Alaska along the riverbanks. The straight-line distance from here to Denali Peak, the highest summit in North America, is less than 100 kilometers (about 60 miles). Cruise along the Susitna River through forest trails, delve deep into the river to admire nature’s marvelous craftsmanship, and gaze afar at the sky-scraping mountain peaks. On clear sunny days, you will be deeply impressed by the towering Denali. The tour also includes a short shore excursion to visit the hunting camps of Alaska Native people and experience the wilderness survival life of early ancestors.

Alaska Glass Dome Scenic Train* (Talkeetna to Anchorage section, 17:00-20:00, no tour guide service during the train ride)

Featuring Alaska’s signature glass dome design, this scenic train is equipped with comfortable seats and expansive 180 glass dome windows, serving as a mobile viewing platform. You will ride along Alaska’s scenic railway built over a century ago during the Klondike Gold Rush and freely capture stunning landscapes along the way.
