### Itinerary:
Calgary - Banff Gondola (self-funded, 90 minutes) - Hoodoos (15 minutes) - Bow Falls (15 minutes) - Surprise Corner (15 minutes) - Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel & Lunch (self-funded; French bistro-style meals are available for additional order, 90 minutes) - Johnston Canyon (60 minutes) - Check in to the hotel
In the morning, we will drive to **Banff National Park**. Upon reaching Sulphur Mountain, you will take the **Banff Gondola (self-funded)**. As the gondola ascends slowly, you can admire the magnificent snow-covered mountain scenery surrounded by rolling peaks. Afterwards, we head to the **Hoodoos** standing above the banks of the Bow River, and watch the powerful **Bow Falls** rushing down. The black rocks and white flowing water form a delightful contrast, just like a great river surging eastward. Next, we arrive at **Surprise Corner**, where you can get a distant view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the scenic Bow River. Then we will visit the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, which features a Scottish castle style, and stay here for lunch at your own expense. After lunch, we will explore **Johnston Canyon**, one of the three major canyons in the Rocky Mountains, and walk along the trails to the rushing waterfalls. (In case of force majeure such as scenic area maintenance and closure, the tour will be replaced with visits to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake.) We will check in to a hotel in Banff in the evening.
### Itinerary
Banff - Crowfoot Glacier - Peyto Lake (30 minutes) - Icefield Parkway - Lunch (self-funded; buffet lunch available for additional booking, 45 minutes) - Ice Explorer & Skywalk (self-funded, 150 minutes) - Athabasca Falls (30 minutes) - Jasper, check in to the hotel
We depart from the hotel in Banff in the morning and catch distant views of Crowfoot Glacier along the way. Next, we arrive at Peyto Lake. In case of force majeure such as scenic area maintenance and closure, the visit will be replaced with Waterfowl Lake. This maple leaf-shaped lake is like a turquoise ribbon embedded in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains. Afterwards, we will have buffet lunch at your own expense at The Crossing. We then continue along the picturesque Icefield Parkway (Highway 93) to reach the Icefield Centre. Here, you may take the self-funded Ice Explorer to travel across the Athabasca Glacier and witness the natural wonders shaped over hundreds of millions of years. You can also step onto the 280-metre-high self-funded Skywalk, which offers a panoramic view of the Sunwapta Valley. When mist and clouds gather, you will feel as if you are walking among the clouds. Later, we head to Athabasca Falls, a 23-metre waterfall formed by the erosion of melting ice and snow. Finally, we drive to the hotel located in Jasper Town for check-in.
*Operating hours for Ice Explorer & Skywalk (self-funded): May 1 to October 12.*
From October 13 onwards, we will stay at the scenic spots and the Ice Explorer and Skywalk activities will not be available:
- On fine days: Guests may take an easy hike on the hills in front of the glacier (about 60 minutes) to get up close to the glacial scenery.
- On bad weather days: Following the tour guide's arrangement, we will view the glacier from a distance and add a stop at Waterfowl Lake as an extra attraction.
# Itinerary:
Jasper - Medicine Lake - Maligne Lake (90-minute optional boat cruise) - Lunch at Maligne Lake (45 minutes, self-paid) - The Crossing - Bow Lake (20 minutes) - Banff - Calgary
We depart from the hotel in Jasper and pass by Medicine Lake before arriving at Maligne Lake, the world's second largest glacial lake. Take the seasonal optional Maligne Lake Cruise* and sail across the 22-kilometre-long lake, approaching Sprite Island, known as "the gathering place of gods". After the self-paid lunch at Maligne Lake, we head to Maligne Canyon*, the longest and deepest canyon in the Rocky Mountains. Due to the 2024 wildfires, this stop may be replaced by Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Waterton Lake subject to the opening status of the national park. Carved by glacial erosion, the canyon features deep gorges and rugged rock formations, presenting breathtaking scenery. Afterwards, we travel south along the Icefields Parkway, stop for a rest at The Crossing, and then visit Bow Lake with its expansive views. We continue south through Banff and finally drive back to Calgary.
*Operating hours for the optional Maligne Lake Cruise: May 29 to October 11. The schedule is subject to change depending on ice conditions on the lake. When the cruise is unavailable, the alternative itinerary includes a 45-minute stop at Pyramid Lake and a 15-minute stop at Patricia Lake.
Due to the 2024 wildfires, Maligne Canyon* may be replaced by Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Waterton Lake (30 minutes in total) based on the national park's opening arrangements.
