# Itinerary:
Banff - Johnston Canyon (75 mins) - Lake Louise (75 mins) - Moraine Lake (60 mins, seasonally open) - Lunch at Lake Louise Village (45 mins) - Emerald Lake (30 mins) - Natural Bridge (15 mins) - Icefields Parkway - Cabins in the Heart of the Icefields - Featured Dinner (Self-paid)
Depart Banff early in the morning and head west along Highway 1. Catch distant views of the imposing Castle Mountain en route before entering the iconic lake and glacier zone of the Canadian Rockies.
First, explore Johnston Canyon, one of the three major canyons in the Rockies. Walk deep into the canyon along trails to get up close to crystal-clear streams and cascading waterfalls. (Visits will be switched to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake in case of park maintenance or other force majeure events.) Next, proceed to Lake Louise, one of the most famous lakes in the Rockies. Its water shimmers in layered turquoise hues under sunlight, backed by the towering Victoria Glacier. Boasting serene and spectacular scenery, it is hailed as "the Sapphire of the Rockies". Then travel to Moraine Lake, encircled by the Ten Peaks whose reflections stretch across its emerald surface. It stands as one of the most iconic natural landmarks of the Rockies. (This is a seasonal lake, typically open from June 1 through early October; Marble Canyon will replace it for visits during other periods.) After sightseeing, a lunch break is arranged at Lake Louise Village, where guests may pick light meals or coffee shops and take a brief rest.
In the afternoon, enter Yoho National Park and head to Emerald Lake, whose water glows like polished jade, to admire tranquil lake views and mirrored woodlands all around. Afterwards, tour Natural Bridge, a landform carved over millennia by the Kicking Horse River, and witness the striking natural formation shaped by flowing water and rock layers.
You will then drive along the Icefields Parkway, widely recognized as one of the world's most scenic highways. The route unfolds a shifting panorama of alpine meadows, forests, lakes and snow-capped peaks. Arrive at the heart of the icefields by evening and check into The Crossing Resort, far from town lights, to soak in the quiet wilderness of the national park's core zone. Two self-paid featured dinner options are available for the night (choose one only): enjoy charcoal-grilled Alberta AAA steak, Canada's renowned premium beef, at the bar's BBQ station; or feast on an abundant buffet in the restaurant featuring fresh salads, classic hot dishes and a wide array of unlimited gourmet selections.
Itinerary:
Icefields Cabin - Athabasca Falls (40 mins) - Jasper SkyTram (90 mins, at your own expense) - Lunch in Jasper Town (60 mins) - Maligne Lake / Maligne Lake Cruise (100 mins, at your own expense) - Medicine Lake (20 mins) - Jasper Town
After breakfast, depart from the cabin along the Icefields Parkway and head deep into Jasper National Park through the valley.
First, visit Athabasca Falls, carved over long periods by glacial meltwater erosion. Standing at the edge of the canyon, you will witness raging torrents plunging down, with the roar of water echoing off rock faces, showcasing the most powerful side of glacial rivers. Afterwards, take the Jasper SkyTram (at your own expense), which takes only around 7 minutes to reach the summit of Whistlers Mountain. Stroll easily along wooden boardwalks and enjoy panoramic views of the Rocky Mountain peaks, Athabasca River Valley and Jasper Town, with the full alpine scenery laid out before your eyes.
After descending the mountain, head to Jasper Town for free lunch time. You may pick local restaurants or cafés at your leisure and soak up the laid-back vibe of this national park town. In the afternoon, travel to Maligne Lake, the world's second-largest glacial lake. You can take the Maligne Lake Cruise at your own expense, gliding slowly across the long, tranquil lake to approach Spirit Island, known as "the place where the gods gather", and admire the iconic scenery woven by lake water, mountain ranges and forests. Then proceed to the mysterious Medicine Lake. This lake experiences seasonal water level fluctuations due to underground karst cave structures, which have lent it unique legendary lore among local Indigenous peoples, making it one of the most distinctive natural landscapes in the Canadian Rockies. Return to Jasper Town in the evening and check into the hotel for rest.
**The operating period of Maligne Lake Cruise (at your own expense) runs from May 29 to October 11. The schedule may be adjusted depending on lake ice melt conditions. When the cruise is unavailable, a 30-minute alternative tour covering Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Lake Beauvert will be arranged.
**Maligne Canyon was affected by the 2024 wildfires; visits (approximately 30 minutes) will be arranged subject to the opening status set by the national park authorities.
# Itinerary
Jasper - Pyramid Lake (40 mins) - Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre [Ice Explorer + Glacier Skywalk] (optional extra expense, approx. 180 mins) - Peyto Lake (30 mins) - Bow Lake (15 mins) - Banff / Calgary
After breakfast, depart Jasper for the concluding day of your Canadian Rockies journey.
First, head to tranquil Pyramid Lake. Its glassy waters perfectly mirror the pyramid-shaped mountain peaks; the harmonious blend of lake and mountain creates a picturesque landscape, an ideal spot to slow down and savour the quiet morning scenery. You will then proceed to the Columbia Icefield.
Optional paid experiences specially arranged for you:
- Ice Explorer: Board the custom-designed glacier vehicle to travel across the Athabasca Glacier, getting up close to the thousands-year-old ice sheet.
- Glacier Skywalk: Stroll along the fully transparent glass observation platform, suspended above a canyon roughly 280 metres deep, offering breathtaking, unobstructed panoramic views.
After finishing the experiences, you may grab a light lunch on your own at the Icefield Discovery Centre. Continue driving along the Icefields Parkway to Peyto Lake, famed for its distinct maple-leaf shape. The lake shimmers with a unique turquoise-blue hue, resembling a silky ribbon nestled amid mountain ranges. (In cases of park maintenance or force majeure, the itinerary will be adjusted to visit Waterfowl Lakes instead.) Afterwards, arrive at Bow Lake, where snow-capped peaks frame the water and the lake surface reflects rolling mountain ranges - one of the most iconic scenic stops along the Icefields Parkway. Pass through Banff Town in the late afternoon before returning to Calgary, marking a perfect end to your Canadian Rockies tour.
*Operating hours for Ice Explorer & Glacier Skywalk (optional extra expense): May 1 - October 12.*
Starting October 13, the itinerary will retain stops at all scenic sites, and the Ice Explorer and Glacier Skywalk activities will no longer be available for booking.
On clear weather days: Guests may take an easy light hike on the hillside in front of the glacier (approx. 60 minutes) to experience icefield landscapes at close range.
On poor weather days: Follow the tour guide's arrangement to view the glacier from a distance, with an additional stop at Waterfowl Lakes added to the schedule.
