# Itinerary
Calgary - Crowfoot Glacier - Peyto Lake (30 minutes) - Icefield Parkway - Lunch (Self-funded; buffet lunch available for additional booking, 45 minutes) - Ice Explorer & Skywalk (Self-funded, 150 minutes) - Athabasca Falls (30 minutes) - Check in at hotel in Jasper
We depart from the hotel in Calgary in the morning and catch a distant view of Crowfoot Glacier along the way. Next, we arrive at Peyto Lake. In case of force majeure such as scenic area closure for maintenance, we will replace the stop with a visit to Waterfowl Lake. This maple leaf-shaped lake is like a turquoise ribbon embedded in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains. Afterwards, we will have a self-funded buffet lunch at The Crossing. We then continue along the scenic Highway 93, also known as the Icefield Parkway, to reach the Icefield Centre. Here, you may board the self-funded Snowcoach to travel across the Athabasca Glacier and witness the grand works of nature formed over hundreds of millions of years. You can also step onto the 280-meter-high self-funded Skywalk, where the entire Sunwapta Valley unfolds before your eyes. When mist and clouds drift around, you will feel as if you are walking among the clouds. Later, we head to Athabasca Falls, a waterfall carved by melting ice and snow with a drop of 23 meters. Finally, we drive to Jasper Town and check into the local hotel.
*Operating hours for Ice Explorer and Skywalk (Self-funded): May 1 to October 12.*
From October 13 onwards, the itinerary will only include sightseeing stops, and the Ice Explorer and Skywalk activities will no longer be available for booking:
- On fine days: Guests may take an easy hike on the hills in front of the glacier (about 60 minutes) to get a close look at the icefield scenery.
- On bad weather days: Follow the tour guide's arrangement to view the glacier from a distance, and an extra stop at Waterfowl Lake will be added.
# Itinerary:
Jasper - Medicine Lake - Maligne Lake (Self-funded boat cruise, 90 minutes) - Lunch at Maligne Lake (Self-funded, 45 minutes) - The Crossing - Bow Lake (20 minutes) - Banff, check in at the hotel
We depart from the hotel in Jasper and pass by Medicine Lake. Continuing onward, we reach Maligne Lake, the world's second largest glacial lake. You may take the seasonal self-funded Maligne Lake Cruise to sail across the 22-kilometer-long lake and approach Sprite Island, known as "the place where gods gather". After the self-funded lunch at Maligne Lake, we head to Maligne Canyon, the longest and deepest canyon in the Rocky Mountains. Affected by the 2024 wildfires, this scenic spot may be replaced with Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Pyramid Lake depending on the opening status of the national park. Carved by glacial erosion, the canyon features deep ravines and rugged rock formations, presenting a breathtaking view. Afterwards, we travel south along the Icefield Parkway, stop for a rest at The Crossing, and then visit Bow Lake with its expansive scenery. Finally, we continue south to return to Banff.
*The operating period of the self-funded Maligne Lake Cruise is from May 29 to October 11. The schedule is subject to change based on lake ice conditions. When the cruise is unavailable, the alternative itinerary includes a 45-minute visit to Pyramid Lake and a 15-minute stop at Patricia Lake.
Due to the impact of the 2024 wildfires, Maligne Canyon may be substituted with Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Pyramid Lake (total 30 minutes) according to the national park's opening arrangements.
