### Itinerary
Calgary - Banff Gondola (self-funded, 90 minutes) - Hoodoos (15 minutes) - Bow Falls (15 minutes) - Surprise Corner (15 minutes) - Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel & Lunch (self-funded; French bistro-style meals available for additional order, 90 minutes) - Johnston Canyon (60 minutes) - Check in to the hotel
In the morning, we will drive to Banff National Park and arrive at Sulphur Mountain, where you can take the Banff Gondola (self-funded). As the gondola ascends slowly, you can admire the stunning snowy scenery with snow-capped mountains standing all around. Afterwards, we head to the Hoodoos perched above the Bow River and witness the magnificent Bow Falls rushing down. The dark rocks and foaming white water form a delightful contrast, just like a mighty river surging eastward. Next, we proceed to Surprise Corner to get a distant view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the scenery along the Bow River. Then we will visit the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, which features a Scottish castle style, and stop here for lunch at your own expense. After lunch, we tour Johnston Canyon, one of the three major canyons in the Rocky Mountains, and walk along the trails to the rushing waterfalls. (In case of force majeure such as scenic area closure for maintenance, the tour will be replaced with visits to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake.) We will check in to a hotel in Banff in the evening.
### Itinerary
Banff - Bow Lake (20 mins) - Peyto Lake (30 mins) - Icefield Parkway - The Crossing (Lunch at your own expense, 30 mins) - Snowcoach (Self-funded, 90 mins) - Banff
We depart from your hotel in Banff in the morning and catch sight of Crowfoot Glacier along the way. First, we visit Bow Lake, where the silhouette of the Rocky Mountains is clearly reflected on the water. You may also stop by Num-Ti-Jah Lodge by the lake to learn stories about Jimmy Simpson, a legendary guide of the Rockies. Afterwards, we head to Peyto Lake. In case of force majeure including scenic area closure for maintenance, we will visit Waterfowl Lake instead. This maple-leaf-shaped lake looks like a sapphire ribbon embedded in the valleys of the Rockies. Then we arrive at The Crossing, where you will enjoy buffet lunch at your own expense. Next, we drive along the picturesque Icefield Parkway (Highway 93) to Icefield Centre, and take the self-funded Snowcoach to travel across Athabasca Glacier to witness the magnificent landscape shaped by nature over hundreds of millions of years. Finally, we drive back to Banff.
*Ice Explorer Snowcoach operates from May 1 to October 12.*
For tours starting from October 13, we will stay at the scenic spots and the Snowcoach activity will not be arranged:
- On fine days: Guests can take an easy hike on the hills in front of the glacier (about 60 minutes) to get a close view of the icefield scenery.
- On bad weather days: Following the tour guide's arrangement, you will view the glacier from a distance, and an additional stop at Waterfowl Lake will be added.
# Itinerary:
Banff - Lake Louise (75 minutes) - Moraine Lake (60 minutes) - Lunch at Lake Louise Village (at your own expense; Grill & Bar lunch is available for additional booking, 45 minutes) - Emerald Lake (20 minutes) - Natural Bridge (15 minutes) - Banff - Calgary
We leave the hotel early in the morning and head west along Highway 1, also known as the Maple Leaf Highway. The rugged and imposing Castle Mountain comes into view. Shortly afterwards, we arrive at Lake Louise, one of the most renowned lakes in the Rocky Mountains. Bathed in sunlight, the mineral-rich lake water shimmers with a stunning azure hue. Surrounded on three sides by the towering Victoria Glacier, the lake resembles a jade gem nestled among the mountains, earning it the nickname "the Sapphire of the Rockies". Looking back from the lakeshore, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands quietly amidst pine forests, welcoming all visitors.
Next, we hike to the top of the trail. At the seasonal Moraine Lake, its emerald-clear waters blend beautifully with the jagged Ten Peaks. Standing on the high ground, you can take in the entire breathtaking scenery of lakes and mountains, losing track of time entirely. After leaving Moraine Lake, we proceed to Lake Louise Village for lunch (at your own expense; Chinese or Western set meals can be booked additionally).
Following lunch, we continue westward. We pass through the Spiral Tunnels, a project built through the arduous labor of Pacific Railway workers, and enter Yoho National Park. We then reach the serene Emerald Lake, where red canoes create ripples across the tranquil water surface. Later, we visit the Natural Bridge, formed by the constant erosion of the Kicking Horse River over thousands of years. The river course, tall pine trees, distant mountains and shallow beaches together form a picturesque landscape. On the return trip, we make a stop at Banff Town before driving back to Calgary.
*Moraine Lake: It operates seasonally. The tentative opening period runs from the Victoria Day long weekend in May until late September to early October each year, subject to official notices from the national park authority. When the lake is closed and inaccessible to visitors, it will be replaced by Lake Minnewanka (30 minutes) and Two Jack Lake (15 minutes). The mandatory fee for Moraine Lake will be waived accordingly.*
