Day 2: Calgary - Peyto Lake - Icefields Parkway - Glacier Adventure Vehicle - Banff

Gather at the designated location

Itinerary:

Calgary - Bow Lake (20 mins) - Peyto Lake (30 mins) - Icefields Parkway - The Crossing (Lunch at own expense, 30 mins) - Glacier Snowcoach (Optional at own cost, 90 mins) - Banff

Depart from Calgary in the morning and catch distant views of Crowfoot Glacier along the way. First, visit Bow Lake, where the distinct silhouettes of the Rocky Mountains reflect perfectly on the lake surface. You may also drop by the lakeside Num-Ti-Jah Lodge to learn stories about Jimmy Simpson, the legendary Rocky Mountain guide. Next, head to Peyto Lake (If the scenic spot is closed due to maintenance or other force majeure, the itinerary will be adjusted to Waterfowl Lake). This maple-leaf-shaped lake resembles a turquoise ribbon embedded in the valleys of the Rockies. Afterwards, stop at The Crossing for self-service lunch at your own expense. Continue driving along the scenic Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) to the Icefield Centre, where you will board the optional Glacier Snowcoach at your own cost to travel across the Athabasca Glacier and witness nature’s accumulation spanning hundreds of millions of years. Finally, drive back to your hotel in Banff.

*The Ice Explorer Glacier Snowcoach operates from May 1 to October 12. Starting October 13, the itinerary will only include stops at scenic spots without the Glacier Snowcoach activity.

When the weather is fine: Guests may take an easy hike up the hills in front of the glacier (around 60 minutes) to experience the icefield scenery up close.

When the weather is poor: Follow the tour guide’s arrangement to view the glacier from a distance, with an extra stop at Waterfowl Lake added to the itinerary.

  • Breakfast: Additional order available; Lunch: Additional order available; Dinner: At your own expense
  • Mount Royal Hotel, Banff Inn, Canalta Lodge, Caribou Lodge, Rundlestone Lodge in Banff Town or similar
03

Day 3: Banff - Lake Louise - Moraine Lake - Yoho National Park - Emerald Lake - Natural Bridge - Calgary

Gather at the designated location

Itinerary:

Banff - Lake Louise (75 mins) - Moraine Lake (60 mins) - Lunch at Lake Louise Village (at your own expense; Grill & Bar lunch add-on available, 45 mins) - Emerald Lake (20 mins) - Natural Bridge (15 mins) - Banff - Calgary

Depart the hotel early in the morning and head west along Trans-Canada Highway 1. The steep and precipitous Castle Mountain will come into view. Shortly after, you will reach Lake Louise, the most famous lake in the Rocky Mountains. Under the sunlight, the mineral-rich lake water shimmers with a captivating sapphire blue, embraced on three sides by the towering Victoria Glacier. Resembling a piece of jade scattered amid the mountains, it earns the moniker "Jewel of the Rockies". Looking back from the lakeshore, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands serenely amid pine forests, welcoming visitors. Afterwards, hike to the top of the trail, where the crystal turquoise waters of seasonal Moraine Lake reflect the jagged Ten Peaks. From the vantage point, the full panoramic beauty of lake and mountain unfolds before your eyes, making you lose track of time. After leaving Moraine Lake, proceed to Lake Louise Village for lunch (self-funded; Chinese or Western plated meal add-ons are available). Following lunch, continue westbound, passing the Spiral Tunnels built through the toil and hardship of Pacific Railway labourers to enter Yoho National Park, then arrive at the tranquil Emerald Lake, where red canoes ripple across its peaceful surface. Next, visit Natural Bridge, carved out over thousands of years by the Kicking Horse River. The river channel, dark pines, distant mountains and shallow shoals combine to form a stunning landscape painting. On the return journey, stop at Banff Town before driving back to Calgary.

*Moraine Lake: Seasonal access. Typical opening period: Victoria Day long weekend in May through late September / early October, subject to official notices from Parks Canada. If Moraine Lake is closed and inaccessible, the alternative attractions will be Lake Minnewanka (30 mins) and Two Jack Lake (15 mins), and the mandatory Moraine Lake access fee will be waived.

  • Breakfast: Additional order available; Lunch: Additional order available; Dinner: At your own expense
  • Things to Know
    • You may tick to add a food package if needed. **Lunch will be served as Chinese or Western set meals at [Lake Louise Village Grill & Bar in Lake Louise Village].**
    • The arrival times in Banff and Calgary are subject to change according to the schedule of activity programs, and we appreciate your understanding.
    • The sequence of the itinerary may be adjusted according to the tour departure date while maintaining the same reception standards. This itinerary connects with a one-day round trip to the icefield, which requires a long operation time.
    • If you need to catch a flight departing Calgary on the same evening, please book flights taking off after 21:30 for domestic travel within Canada and flights departing after 22:30 for international travel to avoid disrupting your itinerary.
