Itinerary:
Calgary - Johnston Canyon (75 mins) - Banff Gondola (self-paid, 90 mins) - Banff Town: Hoodoos / Bow Falls / Surprise Corner
Depart in the early morning for Banff National Park, Canada’s oldest national park. As the drive winds deeper into the mountains, grasslands give way to towering peaks, marking the official entry into the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
First, visit Johnston Canyon, one of the three major canyons in the Rockies. Hike along trails deep into the canyon to admire crystal-clear streams and cascading waterfalls up close. (In case of park maintenance or other force majeure events, the itinerary will be adjusted to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake.) Afterwards, head to Banff Town with free time for lunch. You may pick local restaurants or cafs at your leisure and soak up the laid-back vibe of this national park town. In the afternoon, take the Banff Gondola (self-paid) up Sulphur Mountain for panoramic sweeping views of the Bow River Valley, Banff Town and endless mountain ranges. Overnight at a hotel in Banff.
After descending the mountain, stop by the Hoodoos to view unique rock pillars shaped by natural erosion. Next, visit Bow Falls to witness the powerful rush of churning waters plunging down the cascade. Conclude the day’s trip at Surprise Corner, where you can overlook the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Bow River for a peaceful end to the day’s journey.
*The Hoodoos attraction will remain closed until July 1; the alternative stop will be Vermilion Lakes (approximately 15 minutes)
In the morning, head to Lake Louise, known as the Jewel of the Rockies. Enjoy a hearty lunch at the restaurant of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise — it is truly one of life’s great pleasures. After lunch, travel along the Icefields Parkway, hailed as the world’s most beautiful highway, toward the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park. Transfer to an Ice Explorer (admission ticket required, extra cost) to tour the 300-metre-thick Athabasca Glacier, where you can get up close to relics left behind from the Second Ice Age. Next, visit the breathtaking Glacier Skywalk adjacent to the Columbia Icefield, a multimillion-dollar attraction (admission ticket required, extra cost). Stroll across the glass walkway suspended 280 metres above the ground and admire one of the planet’s most unique ecosystems up close — an experience not to be missed! Dinner is at your own expense that day to allow you free time to explore Jasper at your leisure. Overnight accommodation will be provided at a hotel in the town of Jasper, letting you soak in the charming vibe of this small town nestled within another national park.
Itinerary:
To allow you ample time for free activities in the morning, breakfast will be on your own for the day. Afterwards, you will visit Maligne Canyon in Jasper National Park. The canyon was originally a waterfall, yet years of erosion by swift currents have carved out sheer vertical rock walls stretching for 5.5 kilometres. Winding trails feature several viewing platforms where visitors can admire the canyon’s distinctive landscapes from various vantage points. We will then head east along the highway toward British Columbia, with sweeping distant views of the magnificent Mount Robson en route. Following lunch in Valemount, proceed to Clearwater Town at the gateway of Wells Gray Provincial Park to see Spahats Falls, a 200-metre-high waterfall whose base is formed of volcanic rock. Arrive at Sun Peaks Resort by early evening, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Itinerary:
After breakfast, enjoy free time at Sun Peak, then head to Kamloops. Upon arrival, visit an American ginseng farm to witness the American ginseng cultivation process, with a professional guide introducing various varieties of American ginseng. Following lunch, travel to Hope Town, the filming location of the famous movie First Blood and the intersection point of the Trans-Canada Railway and highways. After sightseeing and a short rest in the town centre, transfer back and drop off at Richmond Grand Park Hotel in Vancouver.
If your departure flight is scheduled for the same day, please arrange a flight departing after 10:00 PM, or book an additional overnight stay in Vancouver.
